House of Barbaard – An Experience All Gentlemen Deserve

Normally I keep my writing strictly travel related – flights, hotels, things like that, but I had an experience last week I thought was worth sharing, and that experience was a haircut.

To be honest, calling it a haircut is an injustice to the product House of Barbaard offers. What they do goes far beyond just a haircut and a shave. They provide an experience worth every penny, or in their case, Dong.

Hotel Review: Intercontinental Da Nang Sun Peninsula Resort

When I decided that I wanted to spend my birthday in Hoi An, Vietnam, Anthony told me to pick out a few hotels that I liked, and he would surprise me with one for a few nights of relaxation.  The very first hotel that popped up when I searched “fancy hotels Hoi An” was the stunning Intercontinental Da Nang Sun Peninsula.  Each picture was more beautiful than the last, and I had my heart set on staying there.

The Intercontinental Da Nang

That is, until I saw the price tag: $400 a night MINIMUM.  I shed a little tear, and then put my dreams of being extra swanky on the back burner.  There was no way we could afford that on this trip.  Fortunately for me, Anthony lives and breathes travel hacking, and just a few months later, we were pulling up to the gates of the Intercontinental Da Nang.  All for the low low price of $0 a night. How We Saved $700+ on Hotel Rooms

Hello Fellow Trekkers!

Breada and I have now been living in Hoi An, Vietnam for a little over 3 months. We love it here and decided this is where we want to settle down when we fly back to Vietnam later this year. There’s good food, good people, good weather (usually), and a calm atmosphere you just can’t get in the big cities. We’re also just 30 minutes away from Da Nang, so if there is something we can’t find in town we can always get it there.

It’s the biggest holiday of the year in Vietnam and we’re excited to be here to witness it firsthand.

Lounge Review : VN Lounge, Noi Bai Airport Hanoi Vietnam

If you know me, or have read a few of my posts, you’ll know one of my hobbies is travel hacking. In short, travel hacking is the art of traveling for cheap or even free in some cases. In this case, we flew Business Class from Hanoi to Hong Kong on DragonAir for just 9,000 British Airways Avios + $16 each, which is a steal considering the same flight was going for ~$1000. What made it better is I transferred these points from my American Express account last year at a 50% bonus, so it really only cost me 6,000 points each! If I were to redeem those points for cash I’d get a whopping $60. Anyway, like always, I’m going off on a tangent. I’m here to review our pre-flight experience at the Vietnam Airlines Lotus Lounge located in Terminal 2 of Noi Bai Airport.
